The Motability Scheme works by allowing you to use your weekly mobility allowance to pay for the lease on a brand new car. This means that to be eligible you need to receive one of the following payments:
- Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA);
- Enhanced Rate Mobility Component of the Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP);
- War Pensioner’s Mobility Supplement (WPMS); and
- Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP).

Whichever payment you receive there must be at least 12 months remaining. If you have a child aged three or over who receives one of these benefits, then you are entitled to use the money to lease a car which you can drive on their behalf.
We have dedicated Motability specialists who can answer any questions you may have about your eligibility for the Scheme and you can arrange a meeting online or by phoning us directly.
